Setting up your home
The first setup: who lives here, the home and its bills, each person, the cars.
The first time you open Bayte, a short setup asks about your family, your home, each person and your cars. About 20 minutes. You can stop at any time and pick up where you left off.
Who lives here
- The setup opens by itself A new home starts with the setup. The bar at the top shows how far you are; the line at the bottom reminds you that your progress is saved.
- How many people live here Tap + until the number matches your family. Count everyone who lives in the house; a live-in helper is added on the next screens.
- Their names Type each person's name. You are the first one. Here: Yousif, Mary and their daughter Mya.
- A helper who lives in If someone helps in the house and lives with you, turn on (1) and type their name (2). Bayte will then remember their residency, work permit and salary.
- Who fills in the details Choose Do it all myself, or let each adult fill in their own papers, or invite the family to help. You can invite them later too (Part 3).
Your home
- Your building's code If your building committee uses Bayte, type the code they gave you (1) and tap Join building (2). Your monthly dues then appear with your other bills (Part 7). No code? Tap Skip for now.
- Rented or owned For a rented home, enter the rent per month, how often you pay it and the next date. Bayte works out each payment: here $750 a month, paid every 3 months, so $2,250 every 3 months.
- Skip what you don't know Every question can wait. Tap Skip for now and it goes on your list of things to finish (Part 9).
- Bills that change EDL, the generator and diesel change from month to month. Bayte asks what you usually pay a month (1) and, if you know it, the most it has been (2): the money planner saves up to the most, so the envelope is rarely short. Then the next date. For water and the rest, roughly what you pay. A guess is fine; you can change it after the first real bill.
- Yes or no questions Some questions only need a tap: Yes (1) or No (2). A landline, diesel for heating, and so on.
- Pick the company Pick your provider from the list (or type it if it is missing), then the monthly bill and the next date. Here the internet bill was due two days ago: it will show as late.
- Subscriptions Tick every TV, music or streaming service you pay for; Bayte asks the price and date of each one.
About each person
- A few details For each person: their birthday and whether they are Lebanese. This decides which papers Bayte asks about (a residency for a foreign helper, for example).
- What does each person have? Tick what applies: a passport, a driving licence, medical insurance, a phone line, a loan, a bank account, a wallet like Whish. Use + for two of the same (two phone lines).
- For a helper For a live-in helper the list is different: residency, work permit, medical insurance and the monthly salary you pay.
- Papers that expire For a passport or licence, enter the expiry date and roughly what renewing costs. Bayte reminds you months ahead, when there is still time to book an appointment.
- Phone lines Prepaid or postpaid, Alfa or touch. For a prepaid line, add the line expiry: Bayte warns you before the line is cut.
- Shared insurance When a second person has medical insurance, Bayte asks if it is the same policy. Tap Same as Yousif and the family shares one policy instead of three.
- A loan that ends For a loan, enter the total, what is left and the monthly payment. Bayte works out how many payments are left and when the last one is.
- Bank accounts and wallets Give each account a nickname (here myBLF+) and, if you like, its balance in dollars (1) and in lira (2). Only you and your family see it; Bayte never connects to your bank.
- The helper's salary How much you pay, how often, and the next pay day. It appears in What's due like any other bill.
Cars
- How many cars Tap + for each car in the family.
- Insurance, mécanique, registration For each car: the insurance company, renewal date and yearly premium, then the yearly inspection (mécanique) and registration fees.
- Done At the end you land on What's due, already full: this month's total, the late internet bill, and every date coming up. Anything you skipped waits on your list.
